Killer On The Lose

Tell the lfs that if they don't take the fish back, that you will report them for not telling you what fish you were dealing with he should of asked what fish you were keeping.
Never buy fish that you don't know anything about.

When I bought the fish that was the only thing that was in my tank and who would I even report them to?

Well you got yourself in mess, you will have to dig yourself out of it by pestering the lfs.

Don't no never had to do it, but it might put the wind up them, as when you buy fish like that they should go into detail about them, not like you are buying a guppy.

I would speak to the manager saying they shouldn't be selling the fish if they don't pass the knowledge about that tlype of fish they are selling onto the public.

i agree with wilder on this as in many topics.they didnt tell you the thing would eat other fish.

Bag the fish up walk into the store place it on the counter and walk straight out, you'll have to swallow your loss in money but thats punishment for not researching what you were buying before hand.

Most the other fish you have grow too large for a 55 gallon tank too, but i'm not even going to bother going into that.

that's exactly what i was gonna say, take it back and dump it there, then you'll at least be rid of it.

sad as it is that you've lost fish hopefully this will teach you a valuable lesson...... do your research

Next bit of advice is find yourself a new LFS! Quality ones will almost always take back fish within a reasonable time frame, particularly if it's a compatiblity issue with your existing fish--I know the one I work for does. They might not refund your money, but all the good stores I know will take in fish they sold, as long as they appear healthy and ideally with a sample of your water to test, within a few days.

You might try having a friend call them and ask if they ever take returns from customers, or buy fish from customers, about something really innocuous like a guppy or a platy, and see if they give the same answer, or if they say "sure!"

If they say they'll take something peaceful, it's probably a sign they played you for a sucker and KNEW the bad temper of the fish before selling it and were just trying to get rid of it to the first taker so it wasn't their problem anymore.

Where do you live, the US or the UK, or elsewhere? Depending on the answer you could possibly report them to the Better Business Bureau or your country's equivalent, as that exists solely for dealing with consumer complaints about businesses.

I WOULDN'T recommend just leaving the fish on their counter, because if they're as unethical as they sound, they might just leave the fish bagged up and let it die isntead of restocking it.

Good luck!

if i remember rightly you got them cheap as uknown catfish so how can you complain to anyone?

tht would be jokes to just put it on counter and walk.

u better run coz he could chase you or even like u will wake up and the fish is on your door step.
