Last week I bought 3 fish. A channel catfish, a bullseye catfish and what the fish store told me was some type fo cowfish, all freshwater fish in my 55 gallon. Today i decided to buy more fish so I did. I bought 2 jewel chichlids, 1 pink convict and an oscar. As soo as the fish were realeased my smaller jewel chichlid was eaten whole by the cowfish. What should I do to stop him?

id say do some research before buying fish.bottom line really.u need to know how they behave or how they get along with other fish.

u need a bigger tank
take him back to the petstore and get ur refund
research if the fish are compatible and dont listen to employees
Or give him time out

ur in a pretty good pickle.id try talkin to the store manager and explaining to him why u need to return the fish.

We have and they said they don't take fish in because they don't know what it's been through, what people have feed it, what size tank it was keep in, how stressed out the fish was exc.

tell em u fed him a jewel cichlid.

I told him that I had to get rid of the fish because he kept eating all off my other fish that I spent a lot of money on. But he said they still DO NOT TAKE BACK FISH.

I'm not totally sure what kind of fish it is but it has a a sandy colored stripe on the top of his head, he has 2 dorsal fins and his back fin is very big and rounded. he has no barbels or whiskers.

sounds a little like a marble goby.nasty little fish.hard to get rid of.
you should try talking to all the employees and someone should take sympathy

Tell the lfs that if they don't take the fish back, that you will report them for not telling you what fish you were dealing with he should of asked what fish you were keeping.
Never buy fish that you don't know anything about.
