Killer Bnp

Hi, i've had a largish BNPlec for 6 months now, just seen it attack and kill one of my x-ray tetra's! anyone heard of anything like this before?

sure the tetra was not dead before and he was just having a nibble of carcass?

it's possible, but he was alive this morning, oh well, one less mouth to feed!

if you didn't actually see the point of death then it's very very very likely that the BN was just trying to get a cheap meal after the tetra died.

I had a 6" common pleco go nasty and it killed 4 rams, actually saw in one night latch on to the ram and shake it.

Bristlenose Plecs are very peaceful fish I don't see one killing another fish, more than likely your tetra died on its own. I don't think that a B/N could even catch a small tetra haha

I wouldn't say they're very peaceful at all. I'm not alone in having aggressive BN plecs.. and he ripped chunks out of my Corys fins for fun.

In most cases they are peaceful fish, sure you may have a rogue plec that messes with fish. I could see a fish defending an area of a tank much more likely. But a killer capable of killing a tetra? Cherry barbs can't even catch small tetras
