Khuli Loaches! <3

I LOVE these fish! I've always wanted some, but i'm not sure if my tank's ok.

I have a 64L with 5 platies and 4 tetras, and the tank floor will soon be freed up. I have a gravel substrate though, and no live plants. Would khulis be ok?

Is the gravel have smooth or rough edges? If its smooth coolie loach should be fine. Rough gravel will wear down there babels which is very bad.

I think they like to bury in the substrate so sand would be better.

Khulis will do just fine in smooth round gravel. I used to have 4 Khulis in round gravel and their barbels were fine. Annoyingly though, they kept burying themselves under the gravel so I never got to see them. If you add a hollow black tube to the aquarium, you will get to see the Khulis a lot more

The gravel is smooth, and i have lots of caves for them. How many could i get?

In your tank, 5 would be a good number.
