Khuli Loach Changing Colour?

My Khuli's often appear very pale but then another time they will return to their original dark brown/orange colours.

Is this normal or do I have a problem?

I have had my khulis for a couple of weeks and I have noticed that one of them turns very pale when I lift the tank lid up in order to feed the fish. I assumed that it's stress and that he feels threatened when the lid gets lifted. The colour returns to normal after a short period. It's alaways the same loach who changes colour as well. I'd also like to know if this is normal.

What else is in the tank and when and how often do they turn pale? They like lots of places to hide, this might reduce stress.

some of my fish (not khulis but id think it would be the same) change colour a bit when they are stressed, i think most fish do this actualy.

They are in the tank with Black Ruby Barbs, Corys, Polka Dot Loach, Rainbowfish, 2 Bristlenose Plecs, 2 Mollies, 1 Platy and 1 Oto.

They have plenty of hiding places and you don't see them much during the day. I wouldn't have thought it would be stress due to lack of cover/hiding places?
