I have 4 Keyhole cichlids in my 47 gal tank. They are roughly a couple of inches in size and they all have very long dorsal and anal fin tips - which makes me believe they are all male. Lately, I am observing quite a bit of aggression amongst them - chasing, gill flaring and that head shaking, swimming round and round thing that some cichlids do.

They used to be peaceful but as their behaviour has changed, is it best to re-home a couple? I bought 4 hoping to get a ppair but sods law, I end up with what seems to be 4 of the same sex :(

Thanks.

I could be very unlucky? If there are females, how do I pick them out? They all look identical.

Would have been interested to see a response to this as I have similar problem at the moment although I've only got 2 Keyholes and up until recently they have been very peaceful but have now started showing similar behaviours to yours. Both fish are almost identical so I assume same sex.
