Keyhole Cichclid

Well, Ben the Keyhole Cichlid got moved a few days ago until the 33 gallon, and it will be his permanent home unless I upgrade it to a larger tank. Now that he's in there his fins are starting to get the most beautiful sky blue color. These pictures do him no justice.

keyholes get that colour when they're either a bit scared/stressed or are about to go to sleep.

Yup, he's scared because he's only been in the tank a few days. There's a lot to get used to, hehehe.
I am really impressed with his colors, though, so hopefully he'll calm down soon and look like he should.

I know i'm kicking a dead horse here, but anyway:
lovely keyhole - how big is he? You should get a female partner for him - mine look really happy together but the silly things haven't bred . How much did you pay for him - I paid like £20 for my pair but they are a decent size and I don't regret it for their beautiful look.

I would love to get a female for him. But I don't even know if he is a he. So hard to sex.
Anyway, they're nearly impossible to find where I am, which is why I only have the one. He'll be getting some company soon, though. Some diamond tetras, and a male appisto. If the dwarf cichlid doesn't work with him, then the dwarf can go into a 2 foot tank I'll be getting soon.

Just need to wait for the plants to grow out and it'll look even nicer. I'm getting some more plants today, a type of African fern I can't remember the name of. They'll attach to the wood. Will look awesome

Thats why I love cichlids so much. Most have these vibrant colors that just plume out of the tank when they are happy.

yours definetly looks more like a he to me - it resembles my male alot.
