My 20g land her MIT crab tank is right in front of a window. I will literally dump a whole water bottle into the multch and the next day it's dry! It does a have a screen lid. Can I cover it with something to keep in the moisture? I don't want to suffocate my hermits tho.

Thanks :)

You could put a saran wrap over a portion of the lid... maybe say 50% or so, and that would limit the evaporation a bit.

you can put in moss, sphagnum moss. it'll help keep moisture, just allow it to soak, then water the wood and put it over it. and also covering half the lid will help a lot.

I would cover about 80-90 percent of the lid with saran wrap. Is it heated?

Keep a lot of shallow water dishes inside and cover 95% of the open top. I would recommend using a mix of play sand, coco fiber and chemical-free garden soil but most US keepers seem to have smell issues with those for a weird reason which i never encountered for more than a decade. Climate differences, i guess. Putting/hanging live plants inside, out of the reach of your hermit also helps maintain the humidity.
