Keeping Tanks In Rooms You Don't Use Much?

I've got my biggest tank in my living room (180) and a tiny tank with a few ember tetra's in there as well - though that'll be relocated soon to make room for a 42" plasma.

Third (goldfish) tank is in a partition inside my garage that I use as a weights room - nowhere really inside for it. And I've got a community tank thats getting converted to a river tank in my study. And I'm planning a nano marine for the kitchen. All except the goldie tank get frequent traffic (as explained by my puny muscles) but once I've got their new tank setup I'm hoping that'll be an incentive to go out there.

Still umming and arring about turning the garage into a fish room...

do it do it!! :hyper: then come and do mine

All the tanks in my profile except the 72, 65, and one of the 150 gallon tubs are in their own room. The third 150 is a summer outdoor project, the 65 & 72 are just outside the fishroom, in the family room.

Why? Efficiency. It costs money to heat all those tanks, the fishroom sits at about 77F, and is heated by gas forced air during the cooler seasons. Centralized air driven filtration system, 85w air pump filters them all. Hot & cold water run to the room, with a drain, efficient maintenance. Bath fan on a timer to draw out humid air, prevents mold & mildew.

I like breeding, this often means certain species need a more calm environment. Tanks all about the house wouldn't work with this.
