i want to keep a single male Dwarf Gourmi in my 16 gallon community tank. i have a few rummy nose tetra, a few neon tetra. I have just a few questions to ask?

1. will the gourami get on with my other fish?

2. will he get aggresive?

3. could i get a few guppies male and females, or will the fight?

4. if i do get guppies will the Gourami keep the fry population right down?

thanks!

1. Yes.
2. Probably not, but one can never tell with individual fish
3. Could go either way, depending on the colouration, fin length (i.e. ability to get out of the way) and how planted it is.
4. Maybe, depends on feeding and how planted it is.

Why don't you get a gourami pair? That is what I used to keep.. the two got along very nicely and left everything else alone.

Can I just link you to this topic Click me - there are a lot of health problems with the Dwarf Gouramis to be aware of.

I have dwarf gourami in with livebearers and have never seen a fry. I added a few neon tetras and they weren't in the tank 30 seconds when the gourami had a tetra shoved into his mouth. I removed them and let them grow in the pea puffer tank, feeding worms, they grew quite large in no time and are back in the gourami tank. No one eats them now

I've got four male guppies in with my dwarf gourami and he seems to be bullying one of them. So much so that the bullied one is now hiding 24/7

.....be warned!
