Hi,

I have a Beech coloured Juwel Vision 450, I am looking for ideas / suggestions on how I may alter the colour to black.
Apart from me buying a new tank & cabinet for £620 I cannot think of any way to achieve this.

Painting it may look a little scruffy, and spraying it is probably out of the question as I don't want to move the fish out if I can help it.

Thanks in advance.

hi what about useing the stuff from diy stores that u buy to change kitchen coubored doors i think its called fablon u get it in rolles just cut to size and stick it on

Why do you want to change it to black?

Most people are moving the other way as black wood effect is a very outdated look.

On an advice note the problem is that the tank and stand are cheapo laminated chipboard therefore you have only choices of covering the laminate with paint or film etc. This means you can scratch or wear it off and then you see the wood again.

Real wood is always best because you can stain it and it will then hold the colour.

My suggestion would be leave it as beech because:

1. It looks better than black
2. In a couple of years you will be looking at a tank and cabinet with beech coloured specs all over it

drewry.... Thank you for the quick reply, great idea! I am going to order a small sample role and give it a go on one of the shelves.

Andy..... Thanks for your reply, Black is coming back into fashion, hence the amount of black LCD TV's available on the market.

Cheers,

Martin

no probs mate glad i could help

Why did you buy a beech one?

When we moved into a new house last year, we thought that beech would go better with the existing decor. We then decided to redecorate, a black tank would now look better in our room, with its black curtains and furiture.
