Hi all I now have a juwel rio 240 and was wondering what to put in it. As i explained in another topic it currently has 2 sowrd tails, 3 green tiger barbs, 5 danios and my sailfin plec will be coming back into it its currently in a friends tank at mo as my old tank sprung a leak and new tabk isn't ready for a plec yet.

What else can we put into it would like it to be quite colourful for the kids. Thanks

increase the amount of tiger barbs , at least another 3 ideally another 6 or 7 . in small groups like you have tiger barbs are troublesome and will become nippy , in bigger groups they are much better behaved. i would forget about the sailfin plec as well these boys need a much larger tank than you have . with the tiger barbs in a bigger group and therefore less of a problem theres a fair few colourfull options , but long finned slow swimming fish would be best avoided . a group of something like praecox rainbows would be nice . colourfull for the kids , short finned and quick enough to live with the tigers .

Thanks mark i can't forget the sailfin plec i already have him i was miss sold him by a lfs that we USED to use. He is only in my friends tank at the mo as our old one sprung a leak and the new tank isnt ready for him due to no Algae yet.

We want to get some more barbs just not sure what else to get. I want colourful interesting fish as ive just taken up photography and have a nice new camera to use lol.

A little more expensive than the fish you have at the moment, but 10 times more interesting imo :) They get along with Corydoras well too. Half a dozen corys gobbing around on the bottom would be nice, sterbai's perhaps, they are super active.

I've got 27 of them gobbing around in the bottom of my juwel 240, 10 of which are really small Pandas :)

Ideally you need a sand substrate for them though, if you want them to be happy fishies anyway :>

10 is a nice size group for your tiger barbs . unfortunately the sailfin plec is going to seriuosly outgrow your tank . its all too common for lfs to miss-sell these fish . the best advice is to re-home him now while hes still small.if you are interested in rams , another dwarf cichlid to consider is apistos , some of those a really colourful .
