Morning all,

Complete newbie here, so please excuse me if this is a stupid question. I have been offered a Juwel Rio 240 off a friend for dirt cheap. Only problem is I need it black & the tank is in dark wood (with stand).

Is it possible to remove the upper & lower trim on the tank & change it to black? Or will this effect the integrity of the tank? Any ideas?

Cheers
Gavin

The top and bottom trim on the tank are both structural far as I'm aware. The bottom trim is what creates your "floating base" and helps to prevent the bottom of your tank cracking. I think the top frame is structural but, even if it isn't, the brace across the middle (which attaches to the top frame) is structural and stops your glass from bowing outwards.

The dark frame Juwels are nice! I bet it would look perfectly fine along with your black furniture :)

You can use Fablon covering (flexible sticky acrylic sheet) over the top or specialist paint to go over laminate (tile paint works well)
