Hey guys,

I have just started a cichlid tank in a 20 gallon. However, I am going to upgrade to a Rio 180 or 240. The tank will be upstairs and I am thinking of the 180 because of both space and weight. I currenty have two electric yellows, a johanni cichlid and a golden cichlid. What tank would you recommend and how many more cichlids can I put in a Rio 180?

Thanks

240, Always get the biggest possible as you'll always want to upgrade.

Bear in mind a Rio 240 and cabinet weighs about 50kg to start with.  Fill it with water and thats another 240 kg.  Substrate, another 15kg plus.  Having said that the weight is spread out quite well.  As long as it runs perpendicular to your joists it should be fine but you MUST work out where the joists are  and make sure it goes across them evenly.
