Juwel Rekord 800 Advice

Could anybody explain what the small block at the bottom of the internal filter system is? Theres the normal stack, then it looks like the bit at the bottom can be taken off? Like it's seperate to the rest?

Is it just a piece of foam? If so i think its just there for when they silicone the filter in

No it's part of the internal filter, it's the same colour, just looks like it could be removable.
