hi, im so excited even though its ages away :p

i think that i have decided to get the JUWEL REKORD 70 as the 80 seems to be quite rare as i cant find it on any websites and my lfs said it goes 60, 70, 96, 110?? :X anyway its 70 litres = 15 gallons so its big for ME

anyway im getting it at xmas and dont want to take all the excitement of stocking it up when i get it (so ill ask later on in the year)

...but i was just wondering it says on this website that it is as long as the JUWEL REKORD 60 (61cm long), now the REKORD 70 looks quite tall so i was wondering if anyone has one are they really as long as the 60??

if it is thats good as it is (61cm L / 46cm H / 31cm W) are the dimensions ok?

and could anyone breifly tell me what types of fish would be at home in there

;) thanks everyone! :D + im getting a cabinet to!!!

Congrats tetra-man2 :good:

Yep! Rekord 70 is 10cm taller than a Rekord 60, otherwise exactly the same. I don't think there is a Rekord 80. The Rekord 96 is 81cm long and same height as the Rekord 70.

I'm no expert on stocking, so I'll let others answer that. Loads of choice though.

I've got one of these and like it. The extra 10 cms seem to add quite a bit in living space even if they are high rather than long. I keep 4 corys and a group of platies and some amano shrimps in mine. My orignal plan, which never came off, was for corys and a trio of dwarf gouramis.

There is a Rekord 80, they are difficult to find as lfs or pet shops only usually stock the Rekord 70 or 96, luckily for me my sister runs a pet shop, and was able to order me one from one of her suppliers

i saw a rekord 80 in my lfs!! it was a display tank so i dont know wether they have it in stock...it looked a bit big for a 80 probably a 96 mis labled.

anyway the rekord 70 is 51cm long / 46cm high / 31cm width ----> NOT 61cm long :(

...so infact its actually 10cm shorter than the rekord 60!!! the 60 is 61cm long and the 70 is 51cm...is it a problem that it is taller (dwarf gourami you said its better?? :S can you explain??)

would it be better to get the 80?? if they have it in stock...or stick with rekord 70?

and i also heard juwel filters are rubbish??

:good:

can anyone:

- slug can you post a picture of your juwel rekord 80 or tell me dimensions please?? :/ :)
- carrera can you measure your rekord 70 please to check its 51cm long?? :/

Thanks! :p :)

BUMP!!!!!

I know I'm not Carrera but I too have a Rekord 70 and it is definitely 61cm long :good:

I also have a Juwel leaflet which says it's 61cm long - it doesn't mention the Rekord 80

The advantage of being 10cm taller is that it gives the fish more swimming space. I have three pearl gouramis, 4 female platys, four adult guppies and quite a few adolescent guppies in mine

cool, thanks for that.

how many inches of fish could i keep without putting strain on filter

oo and majjie are the juwel filters good?

but one thing, the juwel rekord 70 looks so much smaller than the 60 length ways!! im going to my lfs to have a look anyway on monday so ill double check..not that i dont trust u!

I think it probably looks less wide because it's taller - but I've not looked at a Rekord 60.

I also have two Tropiquarium 68's which are a similar size - I think they have much better filters - but they are quite a lot more expensive.

I'm afraid I'm not into changing the filters that come with the tank or adding extra ones - I just go along with whatever the manufacturer provided. I've never had any trouble with the one in my Rekord 70 but I only keep fairly standard fish - no big poopers

The only thing is - it's very inconvenient because you have to remove the motor in order to get the sponges out.

Other people on here will give you better advice on filters.

If you use the 1" of fish per US gallon rule - then you can keep 18.5 inches of fish. Although, obviously it depends on what fish you get. My pearl gouramis will need a bigger tank when they've grown a bit more and I tend to use 1" of fish per 12 sq.in of surface area - and then keep a regular check on the nitrate levels.

just thought you might be interested, both the Rekord 60 and the Rekord 80 are fitted with the Juwel compact super, it is still in the box at the side but is split in 2 by a divider down the middle, in one side there is the pump and the heater, in the other is the basket with the filter sponges. The pump is actually situated at the bottom of the filter, so water is sucked in through one side down through the sponges, and then pumped up through a pipe to the top on the other side of the divider. The only bad thing i have found is that it does not come with a cover for the top of the filter, so i have had to rescue my leopard danios from it a couple of times, i presume this would be the same for the Rekord 60.

Slug

yep , slug has it right there . oh and , as proof of the existance of the rekord 80 - i got one today : its 32"x12"x14". i also have a rekord 60 , juwels are the only tanks they seem to sell in ireland. anyway , the internals arent bad filters - as long as you keep your stocking within limits
