Juwel 3D Background

Hi there guys!
My girlfriend has a juewel 3d background and basically it has started to come away. it looks like its eroding away in spots and she doesnt know if its simply water damage which i doubt.

she does have shrimps and snails in the tank, just curios if anyone has had this problem?

how and why it happens and maybe how to prevent or fix it

I had a Juwel 3d in a community set up and the same thing happened. I had the brown rocky style and the black foam structure started to show through. I caused a bit of it by rubbing off the algae with a scourer but I was guessing that my Amano's were the main culprits.

My Tanganyikan set up has the grey rock style and shows no sign of coming off even though my plecs are all over it.

somebody i work with had this problem with the brown coloured backing. It had only been up for about 6 months, and she sent photos with an email to Juwel and they had problems with this backing, due to it not being impregnated properly and she got sent some brand new backing.

Thanks very much for this information never considered it this way. Im not after any kind of benefit from this but obviously spending so much new back seems the only possible alternative, i guess spending £30+ a piece you would expect better ha.

I also had this problem with the juwel light brown stone background, started peeling after i try'd to clean algae off , it only lasted 3 months , changed to the str black 6 months ago and still ok.

I suppose the moral here is if you are prepared to bear the high price of a branded object over cheaper alternatives then you should be prepared to complain if you don't get that expected extra quality.

I have the Juwel grey slate/rock style in my present set up costing sixty-odd quid and it looks ok so far but you can be sure I shall be complaining at the first sign of peeling
