Hi - I have just bought one of these second hand for my son - my first daft question is - how far up do i fill it - in particular how wet can the top of the pump (powerhead?) get - is it supposed to be completely submerged. If someone who has one of these could give me a definitive height in cms from the bottom of the tank I'd be very grateful - and we could then start cycling the tank.

you should fill it up so the water line is just under the top of the grill on the filter box.

yes the powerhead should be fully submerged.

Thanks very much - that's very helpfull - can I just clarify something - I have two short angled fittings which I pust together and then push onto the powerhead - and then angle them upwards to direct the water above the surface of the tank water - if that makes sense. Does that sound about right?

that's right...angle it according to the ammount of surface movement you want.
