Just To Show They Can Recover

Here is pics of Gambit, when I got him he had lost a lot of finnage in transport and then got beaten up by a female. He wasnt having a good day and the owner asked me to give him a good home but warned he wouldnt ever regain his finnage, especially as a CT.

Here he is when I first got him and can't see any CT finnage, he was a pretty quiet lad back then

A week or two later, the fins are starting to grow back

Here he is today, hopefully he will grow more as his attitude does He is the spiciest of my lads!

Hmmmm...having to have a think now...I got him ohhh late October?? Unsure if this is a speedy recovery but it is a good one

I'd say that was pretty speedy. He has had to grow new body parts!

Can I ask what your pH is? Because I think I'm finding that although bettas can live in a higher pH that their fins do have more trouble growing back. I couldn't get my bettas fins to grow back for a year and now I'm using RO water and I think I'm starting to see the first signs of regrowth.
Your boy looks great!

I have to say I live in a hard water of ph 8! Never had any problems with the fish though. Calcifer my other betta got finrot and has grown back in next to no time and Zippy who was a tail biter when he came to me is also showing signs of recovery. I do stick to weekly water changes but other than that it is good food We do have an RO unit but never thought to use it for the Aw lets have a pic of your lad!

I love seeing threads like this, because most of the ill bettas you find being sold are sick because of neglect. With proper care some of the fish you find transform from drab; sick fish, to stunning beaut's.
