What a feeling. :)

I have adopted from my Brother a rainbow shark called Sharky (he was in a pair, Sharky & George) and four red eye tetras.
I then went to Pets @ Home. I know, I know, he comes the flaming. Apart from one ill tank the rest were healthy though so shush! I bought two siamese flying foxes and four tiger barbs. Buying fish is fun ^_^ They are all getting on great and the red eyes and tiger barbs are swimming around in one group.
Sharky keeps himself to himself and Bruce and Jackie (SAEs) stay together. All in all the day has been a success :)

I'll try and put some pictures on for those of you interested :good:

Cheers

Just a word of warning, keep an eye on your readings as its just finished cycling im guessing so with adding that many fish, theres quite a high change of a spike. Just thought i'd warn you :good:

The whole point of cycling is to stop the spike.

I think pets@ home use a central filtration system so if one tank is diseased it stands a chance they all are.

Shush???, dont you want advice?, and is this tank actually cycled? if so how long? and how did you cycle it?

Agree with JenCliBee! Pets at home do use a central filtration system, or at least do in my local one and its appalling! One diseased tank and it tends to spread rapidly to the others. Probably one of the reasons every tank seems to have at least 1 dead fish in.

I've always had probs when I've bought fish from there in the past so I stay well clear now.

Thought you might like to know it will grow to around 12cm and are recommended to be kept in a pretty large tank. I thought you also might like to know that sooner or later it will probably decide it doesn't like the SAE's in 'HIS/HER territory' and will kill them.
This isn't a certain, and I don't want to in any way spoil your day, but has happened to quite a few people.
How big is the tank?

Either ways, welcome to fish keeping and TFF! :)

PS. Did a quick bit of maths and you will eventually have around 37 inches of fully grown fish. As a new fish keeper, and if you just have a normal level of filtration, it isn't recommended to go over 1 inch per US gallon of fish. Meaning even with your current stocking you need at least a 125l sized tank to maintain good water conditions.

in a good established tank, you can push it up to around 2"/gal. i personally wouldnt risk it in a newly cycled tank.
