will adding another pump into the back help, rather than having a powerhead in there?
May look a little prettyier

james

You need the powerhead to create flow around your rock :good:

The one you have chosen is perfect, although I might be tempted to get the bigger one

I had a few in my tank and just took them out, they can be bad for corals.

Whoa, unless they are massive, leave them alone, they are a great part of the cuc :good:

Seffie x

They were huge, not joking.

sorry if this sounds like a silly question, but it looks there there loads tiny brissle type things on the rock, is this normal?

Are they moving, if so they will prob be bristly worms. I had a few in my tank and just took them out, they can be bad for corals.

Looks like you doing well though :good:
No, i think its just part of the algae, Just me being paranoid im used to tropical so this is completly different.

In that case that sounds normal. I have some on my lr.

One suggestion, move the rock away from the glass, otherwise you wont be able to clean it

just having a look into powerheads, this seems to be taking a lot of my money lol,
i have a few eheim aquaballs and a fluval internal filter, could any of these be modified to do the job?

james

Nope - but if money is tight, take a look at cheap rip offs of Koralias on ebay

Dont discount second hand either - there are bargains to be had

I dont know how good these are but i know the same people make external filters that are supposed to be quite good and cheap

Im thinking about getting one for my 150G FW tank just to help water movement.

This is the same one I'm using they are very reliable and quiet, most people recommend them because they last longer than the more expensive power heads.
The last picture is looking good whatever design you're going for just make sure there is at least 1cm space between the glass and rock for the current to reach.

thanks foe the reply, ive ordered a koralia 900 l/h, hope its powerfull enough after reading your reply

Ive also removed the filter floss from the back because it seemed to be slowing down the flow back there, so all thats in the filter compartments is a few small bit of live rock. Is this ok?

Salinity is still spot on, goin to get another test done at the weekend.

thanks again :good:
