I have a 25 gallon community tank at work. It started out with just an under gravel filter. About 3 months ago, I added an Aqua Clear 30 to the tank. Today I decided, it was time to eliminate the UGF. I read a couple faqs, and decided it was worth it to be-rid it. I was very good with maintenance as far as gravel vaccuuming ect, so I was not too concerned. I pushed the substrate near the front of the tank, and pulled the UGF up towards the back. I feel really sorry for the fish, as it was quite nasty. I did about a 40-50% water change after pulling it out.. it's starting to look ok now. Is there any other pointers I should consider? I will do a water test tommorow morning, as I'm not at work anymore tonight. Has anyone else done this will good success? Thanks.

If the filter was running all that gunk already had water flowing over it,Now not as much gunk will be in the tank and if you keep up with gravel vacuming your fish should be much happier.
