Hi All,

I have an  AquaNano 55L tank, which currently houses 6 Ember Tetras and 1 Honey Gourami.

I've just planted some Vallis at the back of the tank (and placed a root tab under each plant).

I've also used rubber bands to attach some Anubias and Anubias Nana to my driftwood.

My question is, should I start adding fertilizer to the water to feed the plants?

If so, what is recommended?

Any help much appreciated.

Both those guys are pretty low maintenance plants so you shouldn't run into to many problems.  With the fish in the tank they should help provide the "fertz" your plants need.  The exception that I'm aware of is iron.  You will have to introduce this to the aquarium some how.  Liquid ferzs have it and a lot of the other stuff your plants will need but I've also heard of ppl adding it straight to the water

Hello Mack,

I don't know if rubber bands are best to use for attaching plants to wood or decor, just that i keep thinking rubber will break down in water and may cause problems if you forget to take the rubber bands out of tank.

Might be better for you to change the rubber band for something like, fishing line, thread or even super glue (as long as 100% cyanoacrylate). Just suggestions to be on safe side.

Adding fertiliser for plants will be fine, personally, I use Tropica Premium fertiliser and also use Seachem Flourish root tabs.

Something like Flourish Comprehensive or Easylife Profito would be ideal to add a bit of iron and trace elements.
