So.. now what? please help, i just got a 40 gallon tank and i am anxious to finish it... so what should i do now...

It's been 2 day's into the fishless cycle, with the ammonia (that has surfactant)

Sorry but I believe the consensus will be that everything needs to be broken down, tank cleaned and rinsed, gravel rinsed thoroughly, filter media replaced, filter cleaned and rinsed, all other tank objects cleaned and rinsed and then new ammonia without surfactants, fragrances, dyes or anything found. Maybe the members will have opinions on which filter media types could be rinsed rather than replaced, but I'd be worried because by design the biomedia will have large surface areas that may have absorbed the surfactants.

yeah, just talked to a guy at a LFS and he also said to drain it and start over.. damnit...

okay, just drained it last night, let the dust settle. found the RIGHT ammonia, and i'm adding it now.
