just had babies

i've only had my tropical aquarium 8 weeks and now i have baby fishies. only 2 cos we were out when they were born. are all baby fish black? only ask cos it's the orange platy that we throught was pregnant. we have a black molly, any chance of cross breeding???

Most likely your molly gave birth, there babies are black all over where as platies are usually yellow or in your case orange.

Just feed them crushed up flake or a product called Liquid fry food plus, it's flake food but in a fine powder. You might want to get a mesh breeding net they cost about £2 these are better than the plastic box breeders that float, these nets just clip over the side of the tank and prevent your icckle fishies from being eaten.

now have 3 babies not 2! Took filter out and another one comes swmming out. the rest were dead when we found them there last night. wondering if there's not more to come. been out and got net and food for them.
