I've been rearranging my bedroom to make space for a larger aquarium all afternoon. I slid my bed away from the wall temporarily so that I could move my current aquarium behind it, and over to the other side. As I was crawling behind my bed, I saw a curious object that resembled a leaf. I picked it up to have a closer look, and it turned out to be a dead fish. Once I overcame the initial horror of finding it, I realized that it was the fish that disappeared without a trace a couple of months ago. I had given up looking for it, assuming that it died and the others ate what was left of it.

My aquarium is right next to my bed, so I think it must have jumped out through the opening in the back of the lid and landed back there.

I did smell something coming from that corner of my room, but that's right where I keep all my fish supplies, including some unused plants, which I thought were the source of the smell.

I've never been sure what species that one was.

There's a hood on the tank, but there's a hole in the back where the filter is. I'm assuming it got out through that.

i had a similar experience with my adf except he died at the bedroom door from my livingroom and he must have escaped through a very small hole were the wires go into the tank for heater etc etc also once one of my scissor tails jumped out of my tank during a water change though luckily i managed to save him and im more weary these days lol all part of the learning experience i suppose

I would try to cover the hole, but I'm possibly getting a bigger tank soon, so I'm waiting to see what happens. I'm till living under my parents roof, so I need get their approval before brining a 50 gallon aquarium in to the house.
