How long will it take for the angels that I just got to grow? I mean, how long will it take for them to grow to adult size, a year, two?

It takes around a year for them to get to maximum size, though blacks grow a little slower. They may fill out a little after that, get a little thicker.

If they are in the tank with the guppies, you won't see any fry, but you will get some big healthy angels. Some of the smaller guppies may dissapear, as well as the neons.

Yes, I was well aware of that. I am prepared to remove the angelfish and put them in a larger tank, since I know that neons are their natural prey in the wild. I have the ones that are silver with vertical black lines, the ones you usually see. If it will take around a year for maximum size, when do you think I should remove them and put them in their own tank.

If you are refering to 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch body size, they are pretty good size already, at least 6 monts old if not closer to 9 months, and will probably be capable of eating neons real soon. If that measurement includes the fins, it depends if they are standard or veil.

I just got rid of my 2 angels cause they got to big for my 29gall comunity, but they went to a good home, BUT, I had a breeding pair and I had about 9-12 neons along with guppies, barbs ( I know, even tiger barbs, they NEVER took ONE chunk out of my fish) gouramies, danios ect. so ya... good luck!

Did the angels grow up in the tank and were used to having the neons around? I've heard of times when the angels grew up with the neons and so thought of them as tank mates, and not food. Like I've heard that angels never saw the neons as potential prey but as tiny friends, haha stupid I know but true.

lol when my tank first set up i got 2 1" angels,
one of them died last week and was 1 " after 6 months, the other is about 5 now.
something went wrong but hey.

How do I go about feeding them? Whenever I add flakes to the tank, all the other fish get to them first and the angelfish only get a little bit of the food. Should I spot feed them? Even if I do that, the other fish still get most of the food. How should I go about doing this?

I absolutely disagree, my black angel grew just as, if not faster than the ghost angels. It is 100% based on their diet. If you feed them correctly, they can be full grown in a year and a few months. That is the fastest I have ever had.

In any given spawn of angels you have around 10% that will grow a little faster than the rest, and around 10% thay will grow a little slower. You may have been lucky enough to get one of the faster growers, breeders usually save these, if the body shape & finnage is correct, as potential breeders. I could go downstairs & pull 3 or 4 pea size blacks out of a tank, and pretty much guarantee they will grow at the same rate as a silver or marble, strains known to be faster growers. I haven't gone through this spawn yet, there are a few bigger ones, I usualy wait until they are getting towards dime size to sort them.

Food does play a major part, as does stocking rate and maintenance of water quality. All things being equal, the blacks will grow a little slower, they are a more delicate strain. I base this on observing many spawns, not a few individuals. Any other breeders spawning blacks along with different strains will agree.

Well I got my angelfish at a pet store, not a LFS, so I believe they'll be the veil kind. They are like the ones you see all the time, nothing special but they're special to me :p How do I feed them, will they eventually be able to keep up with the tetras and guppies during feeding time and get their share of food?

Isaac

As we have all said, it will take about 2 to 3 years on average to be full adult size. It all depends on how well you feed them.

Umm..then how about feeding? Most of the time, my other fish get the food before they do and they only get two or three pellets.
