Yesterday we added some beautiful Bettas to our aquariums and two of them were females. I have to admit that I anticipated a much more violent outcome of adding them to a community of overly friendly fish. I promised to get some pics on here of the 29gal but it houses at least 3 species of live plants. It could probably use some driftwood because there is vast open spaces in there.

The lack of privacy doesn't seem to bother these gals. I would imagine that there are fairly young. Very boisterous and smooth looking. I would've hated to see them get nipped, for that matter, nip at our Guppies...which happen to be our prized possessions.

When you say '2 of them were females', what were the others and how many? Males are strictly one per tank and some don't even tolerate that. Females need to be in groups of at least 6 to spread aggression between them.
Sometimes all can be peaceful for weeks or months and then suddenly they go for each other for no obvious reason.
I hope yours work out, but if there are any males in there, please get them out :good:

No, of the 3 new ones one was a male which went in the 10 gal by himself. The other two females joined a community 29 gal, which happens to have an older male in a breeding trap. He doesn't even pay the female Bettas any mind.

Be careful and watch them closely!

They won't have settled in and found 'their place' in the tank yet. May take a while but things can change very quickly!

Keep your eye on the fella in the breeding trap too, they're all to happy to jump when they want to.
