Shalom,

I just got my first batch of fish, five Tiger Barbs.

But I've been thinking about changing my fish list to all the different types of barbs. And this is where I need help.

1) Will the the barbs be ok together, in groups of 5?
2) How many times a day do I need to feed these types of fish?

Any help will be great :D

As far as I remember they need to be in groups of 8-10 otherwise there aggressive to everything else but im sure all diffrent barbs can go with Tigers etc

ah ok...

I thought it was groups of about 6 - 8.
I only got 5 to start off with, so that I dont over load the filter. I'll got another two tiger barbs later.

So how often will I need to feed them? twice a day?

It all depends on how much they can eat...but you do not want to over feed them. Better than under feed them then over feed. So I would guess twice a day is okay, as long as you don't feed them too much.

A proper sized feeding once a day is plenty. If you are like most new fish keepers, you will somewhat overfeed them. You might try skipping a day now and then and see if they don't eat some of the "leftovers" from the bottom. Fish do not eat nearly as much as another pet their size would, that is why most start out over feeding. You can figure that a fish's stomach is about as big as their eye just to get a quick feel of how much might be too much.

I now have 8 Tiger barbs, who hopefully they will stop nipping each other !

I got some frozen bloodworm, other frozen food ( not sure whats in it, but I'll look it up ) and flakes with dried bloodworm in it. Plus I'm thinking of trying out some veg to.

I'll leave them in there for two weeks so filter can handle it all. Run some tests.

Todo Raba for all your help guys.
