Just made a visit with a friend to maidenhead aquatics in st albans as he needed to get some pipes for an external filter and I came away with a gold severum lol!!! Very small at the moment, i'd say a couple of inches at most. Cost £4.50. I'll try and get some pictures later.

I was looking at waiting and getting a rotkeil but I'm not very patient as i've been looking at getting one for a couple of weeks or so!!

Well, that was disaster.

Acclimatised the severum in the main tank, for about an hour, adding small amounts of water every 5-10 mins. Fully introduced the fish to the tank with the lights off, all went well.

I now have one very unwell severum quarantined, and one very very angry looking bolivian ram.

By the looks of it the ram has taken some chunks out of the severums fins, and really doesn't like the severum. Severums in the hospital tank, hope it pulls through. Looks like if I want to keep the severum, I may have to rehome the ram. What a nightmare

Shouldnt be a space issue then, maybe the sev intruded upon what the boliv saw as his territory. Your best bet before you put him back in the tank, is to remove the bolivian ram, do a tank rescape, then add the severum 1st, after an hour or so, put the ram back in, hopefully that will sort them out, if not, then one will have to go Im afraid.

I'm probably going to keep the severum in quarantine for at least a week if it makes it, let it's wounds heal on it's fins. I think the ram thinks the whole tank is it's territory, as soon as i put the sev in it went the darkest shades I've ever seen it go. Now the sev is out, it's gone back to normal colours. I'll try rescaping, I've had to do this before with my angels and it worked a treat, so fingers crossed.

Go up this morning and the severum has died. I think when I get another one, the ram will need to go.

I guess the only upside is that it was a standard one and not one of the more expensive rokteil (not sure on the spelling) ones. Can't imagine Ram's being that aggresive toward something like a Sev which is normally bigger as well.

It was still very small maybe no bigger than 2 inches. The ram I have is very aggressive, but I didn't think it would do this to the sev. It leaves my angels alone. It was definitely the ram, as when the sev went into the tank, a short while after the ram was pretty much black on large parts of his body.
