Hi all! Im new hear. :} Im just getting started with bettas and have ALWAYS loved them! I am an experience fish owner (2 tanks of mollies, platies, tetras ect). but Im not sure how to begin with bettas.

Would anyone be willing to help?

Welcome To TFF.

Its pretty much the same as with your other tanks. Make sure your tank has enoughsoace for the fish to move around. Heater, filter. declorinate water. do water changes feed and your good.

Look for a tank that is at least 2.5 gallons. Not only is it easier to find equipment for such a tank, but IME bettas are more active when they have room to swim around. Also make sure that the tank is properly covered because bettas are good jumpers.

A note on filters in betta tanks. Not everyone choses to use a filter, but obviously this requires more frequent water changes. If you decide to go with a filter, avoid ones that produce a strong current.

Feed lightly, and provide a varied diet to prevent digestive system problems.

Hi and welcome

And not forgetting the most important thing........Males cannot be kept with other male or female bettas :good: Females can be kept as a group, minimum of 4/5. You need to check out tank mates for males, it will attack some types of fish, or be nipped by others.

They like their water around 80 degrees F. I find that a rugular tank light works for that. If it is over 2 gallons do partial water changes. Don't buy small, cute tanks, bettas need space to swim. Remove the food that your betta doesn't eat after feeding him.
