Alright so I'm resealing a seam in a tank i"m trying to get rid of. I got it all cleaned up and ready for the sealant to be applied in the morning. I didn't think to read everything on the back of the product before buying it. Well I just did and it states that it should not be used in aquariums.... Its GE Premium Waterproof Silicone(clear 100% silicone). What do you guys think should it be ok or should I go get a different one? If I need to get a different one then what do you recommend? Any opinions are welcome thanks.

If it says "not for use in aquaria", then it probably contains anti-fungal stuff which can be toxic to fish. Most bathroom/kitchen silicone does.

if it says mildew resistant you can not use it if its 100% silicone you can use it



you can get aquarium safe sealant for £3 off ebay thats where i got mine

Alright I can't find anything on it stating mildew resistance but I guess I'll take it back and find another one. Any brand recommendations?

Aquarium Silver/Gold Seal (I think its called) - available from most aquatic places has the benefit that it can be used in water, also means quick to dry and cure..pretty expensive though! If you can wait, plenty sealants available on ebay.

Did you remove the old sealant? Applying new seal over the old seal won't really do much LT

the old stuff has already been removed. Unfortunately I don't have a ton of time to wait on ebay, or extra cash for the sealant from the lfs(which around here only carries small tubes)

I got mine off eBay, it clearly stated that it was suitable for aquariums and was the same cost as normal silicone.. I know not quite what you wanted.
