So, this is purely something I am just fantasizing about, but I was just wondering if you could do like 15 Discus and 50-100 Rummy Nose tetras in a heavily planted 150 ish gallons. It's just sounds like a really cool tank (in my head atleast!) idea and I'm always stocking imaginary tanks. My image was a heavily planted 150 gallons, with a black background, and 15 orange Discus and a huge school of Rummys, then maybe a little something for the bottom.
These are the things I think about when I can't sleep at night! :p

No reason why you can't.

The issue with plans like this come down to a mixture of maintenance and running costs (pruning 150 gallons of heavy planting would take a while, and if you're going high tech to get the plants going well you'll need a good CO2 supply) followed by the list of other options you could do with it. A 150 gallon tank has plenty of scope for what to do, although I think your idea would be great.

Finally, there's the cost issue. 150 gallons worth of heavy planting needs a whole load of plants, which is doable in growing on tanks but needs careful planning or a big budget.

Are we ever going to see this tank, or is it a dream that has issues? I have semi permission from the other half for a similar sized tank once I finish rebuilding the house, but that's a few years off yet.

Ah, money and time. Always such dream killers!
Honestly, If I ever did get that sized tank, it's certainly something I'd think about, or atleast something close too it. I think it would make a stunning tank either way. Someone on here who has the resources should run with it.
