ok so i just got back from the lfs and wanted to share with you all. i really went in there just to have a look and the attendants being ever so helpful asked if i wanted any assistance. soooo, i asked them about their plants (which i mostly went in to look at anyway) then about their driftwood, and the catfish, and their tetras, annd their backgrounds, and their water, and their own personal tanks, and thier snails, and if the gold get shrimp in, and which fish could go with which and how big they would get. I didnt mean to interrigate them but they kept leading me onto new things and i kept having questions. i even told them all about my fishless cycling and how it was going. they seemed quite suprised that i would go to such lengths and wait such a long time.
And then they showed my the breeding pair of angels, and their 4 day old fry!!! they were sooo cute and soo tiny. definatey made me sure that i want to get angels, but now instead of having them in a community tank i want to breed them. hmmm think ill have to get another tank.. anyone on here breed angels?

so anyway, after spending 1/2 chatting about everything in the shop i ended up getting two live plants worth 6 bucks lol.. the poor guy was so dissapointed. i reassured him i would be back once my tank had cycled. (they really do look after their fish well and always have something new)

oh, and they had golden barbs, which ive never seen anywhere and always liked the look of, will have to research them a bit more and see if i can work them into my tank.

You could have 'bought' some gravel from their tanks to help you cycle faster :) That may have made them happier !!

Sometimes I wonder why LFS dont offer that as a service?

Yeah... Although the woman at my favourite shop said if my tank hadn't cycled by the next week, she'd give me some of her tank water. I didn't really want to say that wouldn't do a great deal...

Baby angels are SO neat.

There's a shop near my house called Angelfish Haven. They sell all kinds of fish but they specialize in angels. The owner, Randy, is really friendly and is always more than willing to show everyone around -- the one day that I was there, he let me go into the back room, which is almost larger than the store itself. he has over a dozen breeding pairs of angels, in various colors/types, and grow out tanks everywhere. It was SOOO cool! :)

I was never a big fan of angels till I got to see all of his. Now, I hope to own some angels some day, but none of the tanks I currently own are big/tall enough for them. One of these days though.... ;)
