i have today been out to buy some angel fish. I had one large one in my tank, about 8-9cm.
added 4 new ones today and he has been very agressive to them after the first 30 mins. They are about 4-5 cm.
bought 4 because i thought some aggression would be shown and would give them some rest.
i am just wondering if the agression would calm down in the future? i really want more angels as he is rather boring on his own.
any way of stopping aggression, will try and get some pics of him and the new ones up soon.

thanks
james

I found if you remove the older one, move things around (as mattlee said) and then add him again after half hour... Usually works :)

yea i was thinking that. am off to the lfs tomorrow for more plants and bogwood, so if i move him when rearranging it may help. Ill see. he has always been a bully at meal times so hopefully, but i may have a naughty fish!! :S

thanks

I had something similar happen when i bougtht m2 new angels to go with my current inherited one. The one i had is an old timer, old and big. Also he didnt like 2 diddy little juvi angels, so i grew the juvi's on in a separate tank for a few months then added them. When i added them i moved all the decor afterwards and mine got on fine. Initially a few squabbles, but generally ok.

As hamfist says, half an hour may not be long enough. 2-3 days out the tank is probably better.

got some new wood today, added it, moved him into a bag floating in another tank. he's getting on alot better now, only really chasing them if they get too close. before he was seaking them out!! doesnt help that one of the new ones is very inquisitive, keeps playing him on then hiding in the plants then annoying him again. funny thing. my tanks 180l, am going to add a thread tomorrow with pics to hopefully help identify them.
thanks
james
