If I increase my heater by a few C over time would it make my fish more active or would it slow them down

It would depend on what fish and what your current temperature

Fish will be most active at their ideal temperature (which varies by species)

I have neons, plattys, swords and a couple of bala sharks. My temp is 26.5 at the min. I was just wondering what the affect of a slight increase might be

I have heard of people lowering the temp a few degrees slowly before adding new fish to calm the inhabitants. I do lower and raise with the seasons but only a degree or two.

Both your neons and platys don't really like temperatures above 26 degrees - personally id drop the temperature a degree or two.

Save you money and keep the fish happy.

Also you do realise Bala sharks grow to 30cms?

yes I am aware that the bala's will grow to 30cm. I have a new tank in the pipe line. I just need to build up the confidence to tell the wife that we aint going on holiday this year as I need a new and bigger tank and the holiday fund is paying for it!!!!!!!

Ha ha - good luck with that

Just be aware of the dreaded MTS (multiple tank syndrome) which effects lots of people on this forum.

LOL thanks, we are downsizing homes but I have a bigger tank in mind, might use the spare bed room as a fish room then I will deffo have MTS, which if you ask me isnt a bad thing.
