hello there, this may sound like a very dim question and am going to sound normal or really thick.

i purchased the fluval vicenza 260 with the bow front, lovely fish tank and with the external fluval 305 came with the package and just screws together and comes through the base. Anyway, the tank is planted up with bogwood in also but is there anything else i need or is this ok?

just not sure! told you might be thick

hi there, the most important part of preparing a tank before adding fish is (very helpfully) missed off the tank set up instructions. what you need to do is to cycle the tank before you get fish, if you read the link in my sig 'whats cycling' and 'fishless cycling' then these will help you out. also read the link 'step by step guide to setting up an aquarium' which has a bit of a tick list/shopping list of all the bits and bobs you need. :good:

Yes, take her seriously, its MW that gives the really good advice around here! Its easy not to have absorbed the knowledge of the "real" fishless cycling process when you are just beginning. And one of the first parts of that for you might be to review what media they give you in that Fluval 305 and whether you want to further optimize it away from what the manufacturer sets you out with. After you've done that, you're off to get the right test kit and the right ammonia!

the filter, i removed the carbon from the filter. and i also do regular water changes at the moment but as for fishless cycle, i have fish in there and they are doing very well considering, think my freebie crayfish (hiding in a plant) might have helped with levels.

i did follow all the instructions for filter etc etc and also read alot on here
