Ok well I have 3 betta tanks as you can see by my sig. and I'm trying to bring some more life to the tank and thought that i should get some shrimp, I've kept ghost shrimp before but they died early because of high nitrates in my 10 gallon. I know some people feed bettas ghost shrimp but they can help clean it out and I'll have a few hiding places for them and all just wondering if anyone has any advice. thanks

i don't believe anyone feeds bettas ghost shrimp on purpose, it jsut kinda happens that way

anyhow, i have kept ghosties with all my bettas. some have chased them a little then decided it's not worth it, others have completely ignored them. other folk have had horror stories of their bettas ruthlessly hunting and killing their ghosties. chances are your ghost shrimp will be okay, but be prepared for possible losses because you can't guarantee anything with these little monsters (meaning the bettas -lol-)

lol, not worried about a few losses, my LFS sells them 3 for $1.00 and they have so many the guy usually gives me a free one in my bags if i want them. :good: looks like soon I'll be gettin ghosts for my betta tanks.

Well it may be different in the UK but here in the US they are WAY overbred and have become less hardy so they cant be expensive because some just die for no reason and my LFS has a return policy, they'd be returning a lot of money.

My LFS sells them as feeders, I can get about 20 for $5 :D

I had some Ghosties with my betta and still have one in my 10 gallon. THe betta pretty much ignored the shrimp... but the Undergravel filter was the demise of my shrimp! Dang thing would suck them up ( or they would crawl under ) and i'd find them under the grate part!
figured I'd give the warning

Well I dont have an undergravel filter so I guess I should be good, I hate undergravel filters.
