atm im looking after some of my bf fish as hes been away for a while, in the tank there are 10 american flags, 4 pepperd corrys, and angel and a yoyo loach. i have already bought him 4 of the american flags and the 4 corys to saprise him when he comes home in 2 weeks ( i also knew he wanted these fish n there wouldnt be any problems getting them for him) i also know he was thinking about getting something else to go with them like 3 goldem panchax or a blue ram, ram, altisposa ram, or texas cichlid (he mite be to big). i would like to get one of these to go in his tank as a saprise, what would the best one be to go with these fish? i have read alot of info on these fish and from what iv read the tank size n everything is fine n i think all are compatable, so whats every one elses opinions, if the info i have read is wrong please let me know! i am new to cichlids but not fish keeping itself. i am also interested in the yellow peacock and know it needs alkaline water, would i be able to have one of thesr in a pleco tank or isnt it suiable?, i do think it wont be, just wondering cause this would be my fav cichlid, i have seen it in the purple/blue and yellow/orange variety n absalutley love it!
o n he reads this site alot since hes been away ao i hope he doesnt see this!

thanks in advance ally!

all fish will eventualy (2 weeks) be split up in two 2 foot tanks, 60 L each.
o the pleco tank is 6 ft bu 2 ft by 2ft and theres a common pleco, chocolate pleco and a golden spot pleco. plus posibly the angle out of the american flag n another of my angels to go in yet.

im not sure what flag cichlids are but ive jus googled it and if there these...

then im afraid the tank is horribly overstocked and still will be when you get the second tank.

they grow to 8" so you should be looking at 45 gallons + and thats jus for 2 or 3.

a 60l (16 US gallon) is only really big enough for the rams or maybe the panchax (but again thats a klillifish and im not sure about them really).

even the angel should be in a bigger tank really.

sorry to be a ***** but i think someone should tell ya!

they are an american flag fish aka florida flag fish, they are not a cichlid they are a killi fish they get 2.5 in. the angel is only in there for a little while, he will be rehomed in a few weeks. so from what i have read the american flags are fine in the 60L and the 2 blue rams with the corys in the other 60L

if you use the inch a gallon rule then you need at least a 55. A 40 just for the flag fish and a gallon more for each inch of adult size fish you have in the tank. If i were you i would look at bigger tanks and not more fish.
