since i would like to breed sparks and flower at some stage i am conditioning right now, but I'm just wondering how can you tell how old they are?

sparks has a body length of 1.2" and a total length of 2" give of take a few mm!

and flower is 1.5" total body length

and just the throw in my new bo he has a body length of 2" and overall about 3

[but i seriously won't be breeding my new boy and flower as she is terrified of him! poor girl had do do a bit if a switch around my tank!]

this is her when she sees sparks:

things must be going good, right?

Unless you know the breeder then there's no way of knowing what age they are. Bettas come in all different sizes so that wouldn't be an accurate way of telling.

That's a fact. My daughter-in-law's betta is TINY and she has had him for almost a year. She bought him at Wal-Mart so who KNOWS how old he actually is!!

He is very small, like I said, but perfect in every way - beautiful fins, well proportioned, healthy, active and happy.

shes pretty! looks full of eggs and ready to go.

I think the rule is as long as the male is bigger its ok as he needs to wrap round her.

pretty fish, you don't always have to breed them. i have four girls and three boys and no plans on breeding. they are great friends though.
