i posted several weeks ago about what seemed like a fungus that was killing my female bettas within 48 hours, sometimes in as little as 24 hours from when it first showed up. wilder (thank you) pointed me to possible flexibacter or columnaris and i then tried all of the following before and after: sanitizing all the tanks and everything with bleach, tetracycline, maracyn, maracyn 2, maroxy, aquarium salt, keeping the temp in the tank down, and a few things i can't even remember at this point put in out of desperation. everyone was dying at such an alarming rate i didn't want to order anything suggested that i didn't have online, at that point 8 had died total - none of the girls would have been here by the time it arrived! this stuff killed so fast absolutely nothing above in combination was working fast enough to save them.
so i went to the lfs and found "Jungle Fungus Clear". by the time i got home the last 3 girls showed the same signs (they were fine only hours before!) i immediately put in a dose of the fungus clear and guess what? they didn't die
the stuff on them disappeared within a few hours and has not returned. the dose is done once and can be repeated in 4 days and is in a fizzy tablet form. i have them in a 10 gallon so that isn't a problem but it would be easy to break up down to 1/4, smaller than that might get tricky. the active ingredients list is: nitrofurazone, furazolidone, potassium dichromate. not sure if this info can help anyone else but if this stuff shows up again i will not try any of the other meds, just this fungus clear stuff. the girls look great, have incredible color and it's really nice to see them happy
