Hi i am getting some julli corys once my new tank is set up and cycled and i read in the 'sand as substrate' article and it sayd "Catfish, gobies, soles, spiny eels, and cichlids are all examples of fish that manipulate the substrate." and i believe julli corys are a type of catfish (shout at me if im wrong lol) so will they manipulate the sand in my tank and stop the anerobic pockets? just asking as i am trying to figure out how much i would need to rake the sand myself :)

Also my current tank has a UG filter (fully cycled) and i was wondering would it speed things up with the cycling of my new tank if i put some of the gravel from my old tank in a filter baggy and dropped it in the tank? Just a thought beens as the filter is initially my gravel in my current tank

cheers folks,

I would put that bag of gravel right into any open space in the new filter. The gravel is your bio-filter so it should give you a jump start.

The sand is good for the cories health but they will not take care of completely stirring the sand. You will still need to do that during tank cleanings.

cheers for the advice i will do that hopefully then i can get my angels into a bigger tank sooner :)
