oscars seem to like imitating birds. i don't think i've ever heard of one that doesn't jump at least a little during feeding time. turbo was doing pretty well for a while after he bounced off the floor but he's right back at it again. i've seen him get almost a foot off the top of the water when he doesn't hit the hood.

i actually get nevous at feeding time now because everytime he hits the hood i have a heart attack. pavlov's ideas work for humans too

yeah i know, they are really growing fast.. Jambo is just his usual self im over feeding him tho i cant help it,whenever i look at him he thinks "dinner" and starts wagging, he gets sticks at least 4 times a day then he has his supper which is prawns,or shrimp, he dont half make me feel like im cruel if i walk near he tank without food

Shelagh - how do you keep your substrate looking so nice? I thought of slate bits in mine but they'd end up buried when i hoover!

aw thankyou, to be honest theres less than an inch of gravel in there,so they couldnt bury the slate if they wanted too, but whatever they "adjust" it still looks nice, when i hoover i simply shake the gravel off the slate and bobs ur uncle

I used to think the 'betta wiggle' was hard to resist. The Oscar "SUPER BEG" is a whole different story . Pumba now has the red Hikari bag drill down....... Wiggle when he sees me...... i pick up the bag...... he almost uses half the tank while he jiggles uncontrollably. Truly remarkable... i must accredit oscars with being very keen and 'trainable'.

with ROCK i suppose . I am about to just dump gravel over my sand substrate and call it quits (just over-exaggerating, i would replace). I figured sand would be no biggie and I could handle the maintenance...... yikes. my filters are more scared than i am. (wrapped nylons around the inlets recently though). At least the tank is super clean *re-assuring himself*. P.S. My pleco has made much more waste than the O. Between the 2 of them, you can only imagine.
