I got 2 free Jewels this weekend, and I put them in my Malawi tank. It's a 90 gallon tank with a good mix of mbuna, and peacocks. I have read mixed reviews on the Jewels, with not much confidence in my decision to put them in this tank. What is some of your opinons? Are they going to get banged up, or can they hold there own? Some of the posts I read made it seem like they will be more aggressive than most of the mbuna? Any truth to this?

You probably shouldn't add the jewels to your tank. Alos, peacocks and mbuna probably shouldnt be mixed togther either, since they have different dietary needs.

From here:Jewels come from some of the west African rivers, not the Rift Lakes. Jewels kick bootie. Do not mix them with community fishes. We have here an African cichlid that mixes best with North, Central, and South American cichlids.
(This is what I thought!! I've confirmed my suspicions...at least with this site!)I believe since they aren't from the lakes themselves, they need more neutral water.
