Jewel Cichlid

hi my jewel cichlid who is around 4 inches has recently started having 2 spots one at the joint between his body and tail and another in the middle of his body so can anybody tell me what species he is ,to me he has a looks like Hemichromis bimaculatus but could he be anything else thanks

Looks like a normal Red Jewel to me. Most Jewels I have seen develope those spots. It is not uncommon.

but does anyone know the actual species ?

Based of the red coloring, I am betting its a Red Forest Jewel Cichlid or Hemichromis lifalili
