Hi all,im just after reading the TFF Newsletter and cant tell you all how happy i was to read Bloo's artical about changing the filter in my Jewel 180 everything in it he/she says is true its a total nightmare to work with and maintain,I wanted to know if anyone has took the filter out of there jewel 180 and is it really as simple as it sounds, and what they replaced it with.
:good: TFF Newletter is great keep up the good work :good:

Replaced mine with an eheim 2026 Prof II.. Fanbleedingtastic. Low maintenance, and rock solid stats since.

As i said in the newsletter thread, i used a blade that was a bit thin and small an it snapped an ended up in my finger. My god when blood and water mix it looks far worse that it is.. gave me a bit of a shock when i saw blood everywhere. I then used a flexi, long, thing, small toothed saw blade and this seemed to work well..

So please do it with care :)

If i took mine out of my Rekord 70 tank I would free a volume of 4.8L thats over 1 Gallon of extra water, thats like one more Neon Tetra!

oh wait... its still full of water thou, so would really free up that much 'space'?... back to the drawing board.

I removed the filter from my Juwel Vision 180 - check the link in my sig to my planted tank journal to read all about it!

i did mine 2 weeks ago and it didnt even need the glue cutting i just yanked it out lol

Yes, you will just need some sticky pods for the side of the tank...

Absolutley fine - just get yourself a heater guard - most shops sell them too :good:

Edit: oh, and if you clean up your old filter very nicely, you can get around £30 for it on eBay!
