Hi Guys!!

I was at petland a few days ago and i was checking out them jellybean parrots.
And thank god they werent dyed!
Anyway they were really cute!
And i was wondering how many i could put in a 27g?
How big do they get?
How many could i have in a 27g?
Do they need frozen food or is it optional?

Thanks:Garett

Yeah 27 is too small, quite a miss treated fish in general but their tank size is usually listed a bit small for a 6-8 inch fish. Some places say 30g but realistically for long term care your going to need 55g at least.

Oh wow lol some people say they only grow to 3" on the net lol!

Well is there any other cichlid that could go in my tank?
(no dwarf cichlids.too hard t find.)
Would jewel cichlids be okay?

Thanks:Garett

Jelly beans only grow to around 4"...occasionally a male will get to 6"

Jellys beans are basically short bodied convicts and rarely have any Parrot blood in them at all.

Just curious, but do they have the same agression level of convicts?

I think that you could squeeze a pair of convicts in a 27 gallon. But I don't think that you would be able to have any other fish because 30 is the reccomended for a pair.

Yeah in a 27 you could do a pair of any of the old cryptohero family some are more peaceful than others, sometimes some tolerate tank mates like swordtails or platies as dithers kind of a natural biotope as well.
