I've been using a JBL 900 external filter for about 8 months now on a 90L planted tank.
So far my experience is that the filter clogs wthin 10 odd days. At entry into the filter the water is guided to the sides through 2 blue foam pads before going to the bottom of the canister to be pushe back up through the ceramic rings and the rest of the media.
those first two foam pads clog up with gunk very fast, and get the water to bypass the filter media and go straight back up into to tank.
Has anyone else had this issue with this filter?
Can one just remove these foam pads with no ill effect?
