Will java moss grow on bogwood? Will I need to tie it on?

I can only ever get to grow it in small 'clumps'. Looks great if done correctly though.

Java moss can be a funny plant from my experience, sometimes it'll grow like there's no tomorrow and sometimes it'll just do nothing
I've had it go brown and nasty in tanks but had a pot of the stuff on my window and although it hasn't really grown it's stayed a nice healthy green.
