I just bought a large bag of Java moss and I want to attach it to two pieces of drift wood. What is the best way to attach it and how thick should I put it on?

Also I have been using Flourish Excel, but I heard it will kill some lower plant forms. Do I need to stop using it now?

Thanks again.

lol good luck actually killing java moss..... you can put it in pure flourish excel and it probably wont die (i might be exadurating) ive never been able to kill java moss without drying it

i use normal cotton string and tie it on.

I've not heard of flourish killing moss you'll just have to wait till someone else who knows speaks up but I find the best way of attaching moss is to tie it on quite tightly with dark green cotton. how thick you put the moss on is a matter of taste but if you want it to hug the form of the wood rather than forming a ball it should be put on quiet thinly if not just tie loads on and it will soon bush out.oooo just got ninja'd musho your just too fast :ninja:

I wouldnt put it on heavily, only do it lightly because the undergrowth that has no light will brown off and pollute the water,

Should have no problems with Flourish Excel and Java moss. Flourish is supposed to kill off some Vallis and a couple of other plants. I have 2 types of vallis in my tank, mini twister and er, giant something. The large vallis was already on its way out so can't tell if its had an affect. The mini twister vallis seems happy enough after 2 weeks of dosing. My Java moss is asolutely fine too (appart from some brush algae :()

To attach, spread it fairly thin so the stuff on the bottom doesn't die out. Tie it on with cotton thread or fishing line. If you use cotton thread (and its 100% cotton, no nylon etc) it should actually bio degrade within 2 or 3 months.
